First Train-David Cain
Verse I might strike gold if I Must hit road, I have Made up my mind I’ve got to get up and go
If you’d come along you could Sing your sweet songs, we could Make it last forever girl The road ain’t too long
PreChorus While gravity keeps us down Our feet hardly touch the ground Lifting us up is, love love yeah
The city is calling out we have no fears or doubt Oh, to be young…
Chorus Maybe we’re foolish dreamers now But we’ll take the first train out of town Somewhere we’ll find our place in the crowd Two tickets to ride, I’ll be by your side On the first train out
Verse I know this girl With green eyes and funny curls She lies beside me So alone from the world
PreChorus While gravity keeps us down Our feet hardly touch the ground Lifting us up is, love love yeah
The city is calling out we have no fears or doubt Oh, to be young…
Chorus Maybe we’re foolish dreamers now But we’ll take the first train out of town Somewhere we’ll find our place in the crowd Two tickets to ride, I’ll be by your side On the first train out
Bridge The city moves like the blood runnin through my veins I can feel the noise We’re not runnin away we’re just leavin behind No regrets Regrets…
Chorus Maybe we’re foolish dreamers now But we’ll take the first train out of town Somewhere we’ll find our place in the crowd Two tickets to ride, I’ll be by your side On the first train out
Maybe we’re foolish dreamers now But we’ll take the first train out of town Maybe its time to dream out loud Two tickets to ride, I’ll be by your side On the first train out
I read a few articles recently about this Los Angeles songwriter Jim Sullivan who recorded one album(It didn’t sell, but is totally killer) in 1969, then in 1975 decided to leave LA and his family behind and drive to Nashville to try and further his music career. He got as far as New Mexico where his car and guitar were found on the sided of the road in the desert.
Oddly all the songs on his only album were about UFOs and the desert. Light in the Attic Records decided to print and release his album entiled “U.F.O.” this past November.
When I found out that his weekly gig was right down the street from where I’m currently living I got bit interested as I tend to do with anything local and underground-historic. I also recently toured alone and did that same drive, though unfortunately I was not abducted by aliens.
Check it out, you may digg the tunes and/or the story.
